Horses
Horses, beautiful creatures that have the ideal strength to hold a human being while racing or running around a field of some sort. I have always been amazed by them and their exquisite looks, truly anyone would. Horses have been around since the beginning, it had begun with the European contact in the 16th century, mainly Spain, with the offer of horses to the Native Americans. Horses had a huge effect on western tribes, horses had covered all the land in a short period of time and allowed groups to move easily from one place to another. Horses were used for entertainment such as racing, polo, rodeos, Wild West shows, circuses, and so forth. They are truly amazing and still have a huge impact on human culture, and sadly some people still do not know how important they are today.
Horses can weigh between 840-1200 pounds and size 56-64 inches, and have a life span of 25-30 years, but there have been horses that have lived longer. What is cool is that, the age of the horse is estimated by the pattern of tooth wear in his/her mouth. A female horse, mare, carries the foal up to 11 months. There are more than 300 different breeds that each have purpose, some are capable of pulling wagons, and others for riding. They also have a 360 degree hearing, which is incredible, since I can barely hear what is in front of me. They have a unique long digestive system that requires a high-fiber diet that is consumed in small amounts over a long time. At least Horses and I share one characteristic and that is always eating food. One day, hopefully in the near future, I will be riding an Arabian horse along the shore line while the inflamed sun is dipping into the clear ocean.
